Hello Malvern News Subscribers,
This Newsletter is brought to you by the Click here Malvern Board of Directors. Thank you for subscribing and please inform your Malvern neighbors of this news service.

Notice: Change in Schedule
This is the twentieth (20th) issue of the "Malvern News." The first issue was submitted on February 6, 2014, and delivered monthly since, plus a few "Specials." The idea for the monthly schedule was to see if we could provide enough content and you enough interest to continue. In actual practice, there hasn't been enough new or changing information to continue to support the monthly schedule. Thus, this will be the last as we switch to a quarterly schedule: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter. The next issue will be Fall 2015. Special issues will continue to be sent as needed. Thank you for your patience during this transition

Homeowners' Association:
In addition to this Newsletter, the Board maintains the Click here Malvern Web Site where you can find reports of meetings, the latest "Malvern Communicator," policies, forms, and a wealth of other information about our community. And, please, come to the monthly Board meetings to learn more about the latest of what's going on!

PinThe humming birds are busy at their feeders but most everyone else is taking it easy on this heat!
PinI'm sure things will arise over the next 3 months and if there is anything really important please check the website for notifications.
PinRoad work will begin for sure while the weather is hot. Aren't you happy that's not your job? I sure am!
PinThe pool is open and inviting. Such a great treat on a hot day. We are lucky to have that amenity.
PinYou will be sent a postcard about this but for those of you that read this newsletter here's a heads up ---Save the date of August 3 at 7 pm.

David Kocka --State biologist for our District working with The Department of Inland Game and Fisheries-- will be leading a discussion about controlling the deer population here in Malvern. He will also touch on control of Canada Geese on the lake and lakeside properties. I hope we have a packed house!
PinStay cool and enjoy since we'll be complaining about snow removal!!

Treasurer:
2nd annual dues notices will be sent about August 1, due by August 31, late charges apply if not received by September 30. Will soon begin work on 2016 annual budget which will be presented to the membership for approval in October. No dues increase expected for 2016 based on current information.

Architectural Committee: Reminder
Summer is here and many residents may decide to do work on their residence, as well as lot owners beginning to build. Everyone needs to read all the Malvern documents in order to completely and correctly fill out the building request package before submitting it to the Architecture Committee and the Board of Directors for approval.

Grounds & Lake Committee: Summer
The summer heat is already upon us and with it an expected increase in usage of the Lake and docks. Random lake water samples have recently been tested for fecal coliform. Several of the samples showed a higher than recommended level for swimming. The test results are a reminder that members and their guests who participate in activities at the lake, swimming and fishing for example, do so at their own risk. I would like to remind all of the parking protocol. The only approved parking is the designated area to the right as you drive in the access road. Parking in the center on the grass or in the road is not permitted. The new ramp is for Fire Department use only.

Lately the roads have seen an increase in unsightly trash. I would like to encourage all members to pitch in by taking a bag with you as you walk and then picking up what you can. Enjoy the summer and the amenities of "The Club".

Roads Committee: Road Repair Alert
The actual dates for the repair work are currently being worked out. A sign will be posted at least a week prior to work starting at the Mailbox area. (Hopefully in the first half of July)

We will have traffic control measures in place, but remember to be patient with workers and drive slowly through any repair areas.

I anticipate all work will be done in 3 to 5 days.

Watch the Mailbox area for dates & times !

Remember, maintaining your easement areas is the responsibility of each homeowner. If the association has to hire someone to get the clearing done, it takes funds away from other budget items beneficial to the membership.

Adopt-A-Highway Coordinator: Take a minute to . . .
Litter along our roadways here inside Malvern has become a problem. If all homeowners would make a walk-by once or twice a month along their frontage to pick up the litter, we would look so much better.

History Bits: Remembering the Flood
The Madison County, Virginia, Flash Flood of 27 June 1995. "The Madison County, Virginia Flash Flood was an historic event. Record rainfall across the Central Virginia foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains led to catastrophic flooding that caused millions of dollars of damage. Madison County received the worst of the flash flooding."
