President's Bulletin Board: Summer Time
Summer is finally here with warm, if not hot, weather and all the activities that go along with it. A lot of people coming and going, both to the lake, pool, clubhouse, as well as out of Malvern. Let's keep the speed down in the interest of safety, not only for other vehicles but for the many runners, walkers and bike riders that use our roads.
In addition I encourage all the residents to review our covenants and by laws especially in regard to vehicles on our roads. It is unlawful in the State of Virginia for ATVs to use public roads and highways, as well as against Malvern covenants and bylaws. It is also dangerous when sharing the road with pedestrians and other, legal, vehicles.
Summer is also a time for building so please provide all requisite plans and documentation to Rodney Taylor, the Chairman of the Architecture Committee, or one of his committee members. They are listed on our web site. Remember, enjoy the summer but be safe.

Architectural Committee: Approved
An addition with sunroom and deck for Lot 12 was considered and recommended for approval. A rewrite of the Building Application Packet is in progress to correct errors and clarify the application. Special thanks to Karen Pilkerton, Fred Bourque, and Norm Hensel for continuing to serve on this committee. Additional volunteers are always welcome.

Community Corner: Water, Water
Summer is here and so are the mosquitoes. All mosquitoes need water to breed, so eradication and population-control efforts usually involve removal or treatment of standing water sources. You can learn how to help reduce the mosquito population by following the tips provided in this Flyer from the Center for Disease Control.
The Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) is holding a Drinking Water Testing Clinic in Madison on September 6, 2016. You must pre-register, there is a $45 charge (includes water sample analysis), and space is limited. Please call Katie Jenkins, 948-6881 to register. Read all the details in this Flyer from the VCE.
Adopt-A-Highway Coordinator: Clean-up Teams Thank you
The Spring clean-up resulted in 11 bags of trash picked up along Route 634 to the right and left of the Malvern entrance. Thanks to the reliable volunteers who, once again, picked up the "litter louts" trash.
If you walk along Malvern Drive and see litter, hope you will pick it up as you go -- sadly the litter appears to be on the increase, an indicator that the slovenly population is on the increase.
For information on being a part of the regular teams, call Ann at 948-5365.
