Board Meeting Decisions/Actions/Highlights
- The minutes of the September 8, 2022, Board meeting were approved.
- It looks like we will be able to complete all of the planned tasks within the approved budget this year.
- There are still a few members who have not paid their 2022 dues. Those members will be receiving email reminders and/or notifications by letter. The collection procedure outlined in the Financial Policy will be enforced.
- We have $342,395.27 in the bank accounts.
- The lake leak fix cost almost $32,000. The money to pay for it came from a combination of the Reserve Fund, Savings, and the Lake budget. The accrued interest on the two CDs, totaling $20,000, was withdrawn to help pay for the repair. Since the repair in July, the lake level has risen steadily and is now only about 2 inches below normal.
- Mowing and bush hogging of the common areas and vacant lots has been completed for the year. We have also mowed a 4-foot strip along the roadside verges and trimmed back some of the vegetation that is too close to or overhanging the road. More trimming will be done in the spring.
- The paving project for the year was completed. 10 patches/cracks on 8 roads were repaired. Members are asked to contact the Board if you see any new bad spots.
- The mouse infestation at the Clubhouse appears to have been mitigated. We are keeping an eye out for droppings.
- The
Christmas Holiday Party at the Clubhouse is scheduled for Saturday, December 10th from 3 to 7 p.m. Entertainment will again be provided. Decorations will go up between December 1st and December 8th.
- The Community Yard Sale scheduled for October 1st was rained out. It was held on the following Saturday. There were 13 participants this year.
🧾 Other News 🧾
- The 2022 Regular Membership Meeting was held at the Clubhouse on Saturday, October 15th. About 30 people attended. 24 lots were represented by members in person. 43 lots were represented by proxy. Two Board seats were filled via an election at the meeting: Diana Wright and Pat Rowe were elected to director positions. The 2023 Operations Budget was approved.
- A Chili Cookoff Party was held at the Clubhouse on Saturday, October 22nd. There was a good turnout of around 50 people, with about 10 different chili recipes presented. Amelia Timmerman’s hearty Keto Chili won the contest with 9 votes. Lore Bourque’s Veggie Chili was a close second with 8 votes. There were door prizes, and everyone had a good time.
- In response to numerous complaints from members over the past few years, the Clubhouse patio will be repaired next year. The bluestone pavers, while pretty, have continued to shift and will become a hazard if something isn’t done. The 2023 Operating Budget includes $25,000 to fix the problem. The Board will be taking suggestions and soliciting bids for the work, with a plan to do the project next spring.
🐘 Gentle Reminders 🐘
- It’s an election year, and signs are popping up in yards around the community. Members are asked to observe the sign policy, which stipulates that political signs must be taken down within 7 days after the election.
- Hunting season is upon us for the next few months. Members are reminded that hunting is prohibited anywhere in Malvern. Also, firearms may not be discharged in the subdivision at any time (except for self-defense, of course).
- Please slow down and obey the stop signs.
